Standard balcony casement door
Balcony casement doors have very high thermal and sound insulation qualities thanks to the great impermeability provided by their hermetic pressure seal, the fittings around the edge of the leaf and the larger number of closure points on the frame.
The balcony door allows large openings to be glazed. The leaf of a casement balcony door can be 1.80 to 2.30 m high and 60 cm to 1 m wide. The fittings will depend on the weight and inertia to be borne.
It usually has one or two leaves, and may have one fixed and one opening leaf or two opening leaves. A casement balcony door can be fully opened. It turns on hinges at one side of the leaves, opening towards the inside or the outside of the room. They can open to the left or to the right.
They are available in PVC and aluminium. In this latter material, it is also available with thermal break, and you can choose between exposed and hidden leaves. A two-colour finish is possible.
Tilt & Turn Balcony Door
There is a variant of the casement balcony door with a bottom hinge fitting. The tilt and turn balcony door is a solution very much in demand, as it means the balcony door can be opened in two positions and allows draught-free ventilation that cannot be provided by a standard casement window.
This type of balcony door has fittings on the side allowing an alternative turning axis, making it possible to open the balcony door on a horizontal or vertical axis. The way the leaf opens depends on the direction you turn the handle; if you open it by turning the handle downwards, the leaf opens fully towards the inside in a horizontal direction; if you open it by turning the handle upwards, it will open like a bottom-hinged window, with limited opening and the leaf tilting vertically inwards.
